Robert Elmer (Bob) Olson-Lt. Col. USAF, retired February 18th, 1935-November 23, 2022 Bob Olson entered the gates of Heaven on November 23, after a long and valiant battle with multiple myeloma. Those who knew him would be quick to tell you what a wonderful person he was. He never met a stranger and his beautiful smile, welcoming voice and firm handshake were marvelous things to behold. Even in his last days, he was eager to learn new things and to interact with those around him in a way that would keep him ever thinking. His love for his family and friends was evident in everything that he did. After retiring from a 20 year career in the US Air Force, Bob and his family resided Prattville and worked at both Continental Gin Company and Union Camp Paper Mill. As an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Prattville, he worked with his wife and sons in the youth department and sang in the choir. Later he served for years as a volunteer for projects to help those who needed a helping hand whether it be building a ramp or providing a ride for an appointment. His woodworking skills provided much fun and love for his family – especially the children for whom he built tables, chairs, kitchen sets, trains and many more treasures. Bob was predeceased by his wife and mother of his children, Lavada, his parents, Ole and Bertha Olson, a brother, Elmer Olson and a sister, Velma Roy. Survivors include the second love of his life, Fran, two sons, David and Craig (Susan), his sister, Lola, and three step-children, Denise (Steve), Kimberly and Joel (Sally). He was also blessed with two grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren as well as a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thank you to his caregivers Valerie, Denise and others. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Prattville on November 29, 2022 at 11:00 am with visitation at 10:00am. Burial to follow at Prattville Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Donnie Wadsworth, John Register, Grant Wadsworth, Sandon Chavez, Jake Brassard and Wen Meek. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church of Prattville, St. Jude’s and Autauga Interfaith Care Center.
