Joan Bays

November 3, 1936 - December 5, 2021

Bays, Mrs. Alma Joan (Jo) Hughen Bozeman, 85, passed from this life to glory Sunday, December 5, 2021, in her home surrounded by family and friends. Born on November 3, 1936 to the late Willie T. Hughen and Audrey Childs Hughen, Jo grew up in Montgomery, AL where she met and married her first husband Norman in 1956. They moved with their children to Prattville in 1966, where they became beloved members of the community. Jo retired from Bank of Prattville and was a faithful member of Camelia Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Norman R Bozeman, Sr and Curtis Bays; daughter Cindy Jean Beavers of Columbus, MS; sister Jean Benton, of Memphis, TN; and brother-in-law Frank Benton, of Johnson City, TN. Surviving are her son Rick Bozeman and grandson Chad (Shelby) Bozeman, both of Prattville; son-in-law Glenn (Tina) Beavers, of Columbus, MS; niece Leigh Benton (Roger) Espinoza of Jonesboro, TN; nephew Keith (Pam) Benton and sister-in-law Kathleen Benton, of Johnson City, TN; step-daughter Joy Bays Cornell of Nebraska, and step-son Scott Bays of Monk’s Corner, SC. In addition, Jo will be missed by many dear, long-time friends and extended family members. A grave-side service will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Memorial Cemetery in Montgomery, AL at 2PM with Pastor Glenn Brock officiating and Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Pallbearers will be Rick Bozeman, Chad Bozeman, Glenn Beavers, Mike Truelove, James Truelove, and Doug Frye. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Danise Crosskey for providing such excellent and loving care to Jo in her final months of life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Camelia Baptist Church’s Young at Heart Group.
