He served in the United States Air Force for nearly thirty years, where he was in charge of the Military Police. In 1954, he married the love of his life, Celia Jeanette Puckett, to whom he recently celebrated 66 years of marriage. He was ordained a deacon in the Southern Baptist Church in 1965, and remained so for nearly thirty years. He was member of East Memorial Baptist Church, where he offered continuous support for the music ministry. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jeanette Sullivan, son Robert (Bobby) Sullivan (Canton, OH) daughter Teresa (Terry) Wood and her husband, Richard Wood – Jimmy’s best friend (Wetumpka, AL), grandchildren Curt & Sharon Wood (Cecil, AL) and his beloved great granddaughter, that he thought hung the moon, Presley Wood, and grand-dogs Bella & Bentley Sullivan (Canton, OH). He is also survived by his sisters Geraldine Atwood (Clinton, MS) and Linda Hall Dalton (Mize, MS), and sisters-in-laws Lola (Paul) Kennedy (Hattiesburg, MS) and Jackie Doctor (Gulf Port, MS), as well as many nieces and nephews. He had a particularly close relationship with his great nephew, Rushton Kennedy. Jimmy will be remembered for having a great faith in Jesus, as a friendly and likeable man, a prankster with a huge sense of humor, a work ethic beyond belief, and an infinite sense of integrity. He and Jeanette were much loved by the widow women of their church.
