Jimmy David Morrison

October 15, 1932 - August 10, 2020

Mr. Jimmy David (Opa) Morrison of Lake Martin, Alabama passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020 at the age of 87. He was born and raised in Ft Deposit, Alabama, the son of Clarence and Buna Murray Morrison. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Louise Hasson and his daughter, Braunda. He is survived by his daughters Leigh Pate (Doug) and Julia Wallace (Bill). He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Jon Pate (Ann Yates), Will Wallace (Allison), Anna Pate Vanderbleek (Jared), Cullen Wallace and Mori Wallace and his great grandchildren Mims and Bennie Pate and Margot and Ida Vanderbleek. He served two years in the Army and then graduated from Troy University with a BA in Education, and from the University of Georgia with a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice. He worked for the State of Alabama Pardon and Parole Board and the Supervised Intensive Restitution Program and then was the warden of Staton Prison for a number of years before retiring to live in the place he loved best, Lake Martin. He was an avid Auburn football fan and spent almost every fall in his RV cheering on the Tigers with friends and family. He loved music, dancing and people. A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 13 at 10:30am at Prattville Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Elmore County Humane Shelter (elmorehumane.org).
