SERGEANT MAJOR AUGUSTER PIERCE “BULL” CROWDER, JR. Born July 9, 1940 to the late Auguster “Gussie” and Ina Pearl Crowder, went home to be with the Lord on May 25, 2021, with his family by his side. Mr. Crowder at age of 80, is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Fulford Crowder and brother-in-law, Howard Wainwright, Jr. He is survived by his loving and caring “Sis”, Ina Faye Wainwright; his beloved son, Todd Alan Crowder, Nashville, TN and daughter, Kellie Crowder Royal (Brad); two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, Cullman, Al. His kind and loving nieces and nephews, Michelle Locke (David), Tonia Harris (Steve) and Stephanie Lightsey (Jerome); host of great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Marianne Fulford (Gary Jones), Raleigh, NC; special friend, Viola Nave; extended family and friends. Mr. Crowder graduated from Williams School in Montgomery and entered the Army National Guard as a member of the 20th Special Forces Group as a paratrooper. He is recipient Army Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Ten Year Device, Army Service Ribbon, Master Parachutist Badge, Special Forces Tab, Expert Badge Rifle, Army Reserve Components, Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters and National Defense Medal with 1 Service Star. In 1986, he relocated his family to Cullman, AL. In 1990, he graduated from Wallace State College with an Associate in Science Degree with Magna Cum Laude. He was a high school referee and umpire for many years. He loved Auburn football, watching girls softball and the Atlanta Braves, collecting items such as baseball cards, matches, patches, and hats, traveling and thrifting/antiquing. In 2018, he returned to Prattville, Al to live closer to his Sis. They enjoyed going out to eat and just being together again. His nieces also spent a lot of time with their uncle and enjoyed his phone calls. He looked forward to going out to eat with his army buddies. Mr. Crowder will dearly be missed by all. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Cullman City Cemetery, Cullman, AL on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Elijah Peak, Jordan Locke, Justin Locke, Jonworth Locke, Austin Alford, Chace Harris, Steve Harris, David Locke, Jerome Lightsey, Bentley Lightsey, Brian Stephens and James Howard Wainwright. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to American Diabetes Association and Wounded Warrior Project.
