Joy Jacquelyn Burt

Joy O. Burt, beloved child of God and wife of Henry “Warren” Burt, was gently escorted by our Savior into Heaven on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 in her hometown of Prattville Alabama, after a lengthy battle with cancer and congestive heart failure. Joy is preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Myrtle Olgesby. She is survived by her husband and love of her life, Warren, having celebrated 63 years of marriage. She is survived by her two daughters, Jacquelyn Hare (Billy), Laurie Barnett (Benjamin), and her son, Bud, of Prattville including three grandchildren, Ashley Cotton, Dr. Melissa Golden (Adam), and Tommy Lowe (Leila) and two great-grandchildren, Cami Offenbacker, and Cason Offenbacker. She is affectionately known by her grandchildren as “Mama Joy.” Joy and Warren together have faithfully and sacrificially served their family through four generations. One of Joy’s greatest delights was preparing delicious and elaborate meals for her family, delicately selecting organic herbs, fruits, from the orchards and vineyards, and vegetables from the garden at the family farm, i.e. “The Lazy B.” Throughout her adult life, Joy enjoyed working part-time at the Home Insurance Company, AmSouth Bank, the family business, as well as Maxwell Air Force Base. Her hobbies included fine-tuning her culinary skills, expanding her herb gardens, selecting heirloom seeds, French hand-sewing, traveling, and reading. She enjoyed chaperoning field trips with her great-grandson, Cason, at Prattville Christian Academy until the end of her life. We are so happy our Mama Joy is now enjoying the twelve fruits on the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden with her Savior. Pallbearers include Terry Bowen, Glenn Brock, Mitchell Bruce, Dean Golden, Mel Johnson, and Bob McClain.
