Jared Decker

On Friday, December 28, 2018, Pastor Jared Decker, loving husband and father of six children and pastor of Grandview Pines Baptist Church, went to be with His Saviour at the age of 35. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from Stanhope Elmore High School Gymnasium with Pastor Edward Decker officiating. The family will receive friends at Stanhope Elmore gymnasium on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Jared was born on January 13, 1983, in Kilgore, TX to Pastor Edward and Melody (Brown) Decker. He grew up under his father’s leadership as a vital part of the music, children’s, and outreach ministry as he prepared to fulfill God’s plan for his life. Jared began pastoring Grandview Pines Baptist Church on January 17, 2007 where he has faithfully loved and led his church for the past 12 years. He ministered annually in Nigeria teaching nationals how to reach boys and girls with the gospel. Jared also served as a chaplain for the Millbrook Police Department, loving the time he got to spend with our officers. On October 4, 2002, Jared married April Smith Decker. They have two daughters: Lydia and Ruth; and four sons: Caleb, Josiah, Timothy, and Micah. He was such a loving and devoted husband and father, a dedicated pastor, a true friend, and the most precious son and brother. Jared was passionate about life and so much fun to be around with his abundant energy, hugs, smiles, and witty sense of humor. Jared loved the Lord and loved making a difference. He had the biggest servant’s heart and was always available for anyone who needed him while making a lasting impact upon many lives. He served his Lord well with complete surrender and sacrificial devotion. Jared was preceded in death by many beloved family members and is survived by his loving wife April and their six children: Lydia, Caleb, Josiah, Ruth, Timothy, and Micah; his parents: Pastor Ed and Melody Decker; a sister: Felicia Ross, her husband Michael, and their children: Abigail, Elisabeth, Jonathan, Julia, Rebecca, and Sarah; a brother: Pastor Bobby Decker, his wife Brandi, and their three children: Kathleen, Victoria, and Liberty; his uncle/big brother Kenny Decker and family, as well as other aunts, uncles, cousins, along with an innumerable host of others who loved him as family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jared Decker Memorial Fund at any branch of First Community Bank.
