Netha LaRene Potter Wainwright, 66, of Prattville passed away on
December 25, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was
married to Ray Wainwright for more than 36 years and was the mother
of Lenita Susan Light Gilreath. She was born to Blanche Ella Boone
and Henry Judson Potter on February 10, 1945 in Appalachia,
Virginia, the third of four daughters. Netha graduated in 1963 from
Appalachia High School as Valedictorian and attended Radford
University. She worked for Winn Dixie for more than 35 years and
was the first female store manager in theMontgomery division. She
was a member of Fountain City Baptist Church. Netha was an avid
sports fan of the University of Alabama. She is survived by her
loving husband of 36 years, Ray Wainwright; one daughter,
Lenita Light (Tony) Gilreath, Chesterfield, Virginia; two
step-daughters, Carole Wainwright (Karey) Baker of Haughton,
Louisiana, and Ginger Wainwright (Ted) Holton of Fernandina Beach,
Florida; five grandchildren, Courtney Marie Gilreath Gormus of
Chesterfield, Virginia; Dallas Judson Gilreath of Provo, Utah;
Heather Farmer Winslett of Louisiana; Ashely Holton Brown of South
Carolina; TJ Holton of Fernandina Beach, Florida; one
great-grandson, Hunter Brown; two sisters, Velta Delores Potter
Fleenor and (Ken Sowder) of Appalachia, Virginia; and Varina Sue
Potter (Jim) Askew of Prattville, Alabama; nephews and nieces, CJ
Fleenor, James Patrick Fleenor, Karen Shortt Hall, Michael Askew,
and Lindsay Askew Goff. She is preceded in death by her father
Henry Judson Potter; mother Blanche Potter; and sister Bessie
Alvena Potter Massie. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday,
December 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. fromFountainCityBaptistChurch,492
East Main Street,Prattville, 36067, with Pastor Rick Moore
officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens, with
Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. The family will receive
friends on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Prattville Memorial Chapel
from 6 to 8 p.m.,841 Fairview Avenue,Prattville, 36066.
