I just wanted to let Larry, David, Aletha and all of the extended Avant family know that those of us who can not be there right now wish to send our very best. We are thinking of you. My personal memories of Uncle Louis always bring a great smile to my face and I think about the amazing things that he witnessed over his long life. I will never forget he and my grandfather telling me stories when I was a younger boy on our visits to Prattville. Eric, Taylor, Tully and Merritt Lanctot

Uncle Louis was a true gentleman. I will always remember him taking us out on our first tractor rides and thinking how amazing it was that they lived on a farm!! I have such wonderful memories of going to visit them in Prattville as a child. More recently, I will never forget how very special it was that Uncle Louis and Aunt Elizabeth made the effort to come to my wedding. I enjoyed getting to visit with them and in some way it made me feel as though my gigi and papa were there with them as well. I was always amazed at how much my papa and Uncle Louis looked alike! I want you all to know how special Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle Louis were to us and I do find some peace that after 71 years they are together once again. All of the Avant family is in our thoughts and prayers. Lisa, Michael, Ethan, and Emily Lewis

Uncle Louis,to me, was truly a model man from the "Greatest Generation." He exemplified the values of respect for others, love and devotion to his family, loyalty and commitment to his country and community. In his quiet way, with that beguiling smile , I always knew that I had his undivided attention, even if it was riding in his pickup, out to check on the cows in the pasture. When I think of my childhood, some of my most cherished memories reflect back to our family vacations spent on the farm, with my special Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle Louis. These memories whether shelling peas, calling in the cows, the barbeques or making his fabulous peach ice cream, Uncle Louis, always had time to include a little girl. For the gift of these very special memories, I will be forever grateful. To my cousins, may you find peace in knowing that both of your remarkable parents are together again, at home in heaven. Please our whole family's deepest smypathy.Love, Marilyn
