George Aaron Hood, 71, departed this life to be with the Lord on
Wednesday, October 12, 2011 after a lengthy battle with Pancreatic
cancer. George was born April 10, 1942 in Prattville, Alabama
to Jimmie Carroll (J.C.) Hood and Bennie Elendor Moore.
In 1956 George moved to Casper, Wyoming where he met his wife
Anita Louise Leach. In 1960 George moved to Grand Lake,
Colorado where he worked for Grand Lake Plumbing. He became a
Master Plumber and later owned and operated G.A. Plumbing in Grand
Lake. George loved the mountains and enjoyed hunting,
fishing, hiking, white water rafting and snowmobiling with his
family. George was a 3rd degree Mason and was twice past master of
Mount Wolford Lodge #163 in Kremmling, Colorado and a member of
Prattville Lodge #89 F&AM of Alabama. George called Grand
Lake home for 33 years. In 1983 George retired from plumbing
and moved back to Prattville where he lived the remainder of his
life surrounded by his family and friends.
George loved to travel and never met a stranger in the many
parts of the world he visited. He always had a kind word for
everyone he met. He loved music and would whistle a tune or
sing a song at every opportunity. George was a man of great
faith and was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church
where he loved and served the Lord. He was a blessing to many
and will be greatly missed by all who love him.
George is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anita Louise
Hood; two daughters: Stephanie Hood-Clark and her husband
Brad of Prattville and Amy Hood-Peoples and her husband Sammy of
Prattville; three grandchildren: Christopher Aaron
Lorenz, Allison Michelle Peoples and Eric Samuel Peoples all of
