Beverly Jean (Mahaffy) Moody, a resident of Prattville AL, died Sunday February 12th in her home after a three year battle with ALS. She was 71 years old.

Although born and raised in Ohio, Bev spent the last 22 years in Alabama and considered it home.

She was a dependable friend, dedicated sister, devoted wife, loving mother and adoring grandmother. She was a true inspiration to all those that knew her and will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.  She is profoundly loved and remembered by her family and friends.

A caring nurturer, Bev loved her family and  spending time in her garden.  She adored summer walks on the beach and losing herself in a good book.  More than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.  Bev had a vibrant spirit and kindred heart that was apparent to all those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father Marion Mahaffy; mother, Virginia VanSickle, step-father, Walter VanSickle, and step-mother, Ruth Mahaffy.

She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Moody; son, William J. Moody (wife Leigh Ann Moody), two grandchildren, Madison and William R. Moody; sisters, Mary Jo Scott, Carol Lynn Reinhardt, Nancy Henry and brother Rick Mahaffy, nieces and numerous cousins.

She was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church, Prattville AL.

Kelly and I want to express our sympathy at this time of great loss. Bev, wife, mother and sister was such an expressive person in life. Her voice, hands and beautiful face always let you know the passion she was feeling and experienceing. Her illness attacked her voice but it never stoped her from being expresive. She still let you know one way or another what she was feeling and experienceing. It was a blessing that she passed from this life to the next in her sleep. We believe that she was saying that her death was to be peaceful and that was how she wants to be remembered and what she wishes for all her loved ones she had to leave behind. Know that in her death she is now with her Lord and savior and the family and she continues to be fully expressive with her voice back. May she rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We love you and are sorry we could not be with you phisically but we are with you in spirit. Kelly and Louis

Dear Bob & William, You both have our deepest sympathy. Although we have not seen each other for years, Bev was one of our closest and dearest friends when we all lived in Marion. She helped me through one of the most terrible times of my life. I still have the picture Christmas ornaments of William, Brian, & Jennifer that we bought when we made our annual trips to Lazarus in Columbus. I remember Bev taking William & Brian to preschool in the Corvette. Neither boy could see over the dashboard, but loved being strapped in together in the front seat & riding in "style" to Epworth. Also, Jennifer still has the Cabbage Patch Doll that Bev insisted that she needed for her birthday. You are both in our thoughts and prayers. I know how much Bev loved both of you & her grandchildren & daughter-in-law. She sent me several e-mails talking about the children. Again, you have our sincerest sympathy. Love, Donna, Brian, & Jennifer Baer

I graduated in the class of 1958 with Beverly in Cardington, Ohio. Although, we hadn't seen each other since that time, she has never been forgotten. We were a very close class and each class member left an indelible impression on my life. Bev was such a sweet young girl, so pretty, an so nice to me. She was there during the good times and the bad. My sympathies go out to her family and friends. My heart aches for you.
